Privacy Policy
Effective August 8, 2026Last updated August 8, 2026
1. The Short Version
Quanzio is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not operate servers, we do not create user accounts, and we never receive or store your personal data. Almost everything in this policy is about what happens on your phone, not ours.
2. Definitions
Personal Information means any information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked to an individual. Examples include name, email address, precise location coordinates, and device identifiers.
On-Device Data means data stored locally on your iPhone that is never transmitted to us or any third party we operate.
Third-Party Service Provider means an external service that the app interacts with in the course of its operation, such as Frankfurter (exchange rates) or Apple StoreKit (purchases). These providers operate under their own privacy policies, which are outside our control.
3. Information the App Accesses or Stores
3.1 Data Stored On Your Device Only
All data you create in Quanzio — trip names, purchase entries (item name, amount, foreign currency, converted amount, and date), and any associated location data — is stored exclusively on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or to any server we operate.
App preferences (your selected home currency, active trip selection, and similar settings) are stored in Apple's standard local storage (UserDefaults/@AppStorage) on your device only and are not transmitted anywhere.
We have no access to any of this data, at any time, under any circumstances.
3.2 Camera
If you grant camera access, Quanzio uses Apple's Vision framework to perform on-device text recognition (OCR) against whatever is in the camera's view — for example, a foreign price tag or receipt — to extract a price and currency. This processing happens entirely on your device. No images, video, or camera frames are saved, stored, or transmitted anywhere. If you deny camera access, you can still enter prices manually.
3.3 Location (While In Use)
If you grant location access, Quanzio uses your device's location to tag each saved purchase with where it was made. This location data is:
- Used to place purchase pins on the in-app map view
- Used to reverse-geocode a country/city name for each purchase entry
- Stored locally on your device as part of the purchase record
- Never transmitted to us or to any external server
The app requests "While In Use" access only — location is never accessed in the background.
A note on location precision: The app requests location data with a lower-precision hint, but depending on your device's Location Services settings, the coordinates recorded may be precise or approximate. If you want to limit location precision, you can toggle "Precise Location" off for Quanzio in your iPhone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Quanzio. If you deny location access entirely, purchases will save normally but will not appear on the map and will not include a location name.
3.4 Exchange Rate Requests (Frankfurter.app / Cloudflare)
To provide current exchange rates, Quanzio fetches rate data from Frankfurter (frankfurter.dev), a free public currency exchange rate API. These requests:
- Contain no personal information, no device identifiers, and no data derived from your usage of the app
- Are standard HTTP requests for publicly available rate data, no different from loading a webpage
Frankfurter's service runs behind Cloudflare's infrastructure. Cloudflare may process basic request metadata (such as your IP address) as part of delivering this service, in accordance with its own privacy practices. Neither Caywood Creative nor Frankfurter receives any personal information from these requests beyond what Cloudflare handles at the infrastructure level.
Caywood Creative is not responsible for the privacy practices of Cloudflare, Frankfurter, or any other third-party service provider. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which are outside our control. We encourage you to review them directly: Cloudflare Privacy Policy | Frankfurter.
3.5 In-App Purchases (Apple StoreKit)
Quanzio offers a single one-time in-app purchase that unlocks unlimited trips and ledger entries. All payment processing, billing, and transaction handling is managed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see, receive, or store your payment information, Apple ID, or any billing details.
When you make or restore a purchase, Apple's StoreKit provides the app with a non-identifying transaction receipt used solely to verify your entitlement to unlocked features. This receipt does not contain your name, Apple ID, or payment details. Apple's privacy practices govern all aspects of this transaction; see apple.com/legal/privacy.
3.6 External Links in Settings
Quanzio's Settings area includes links to official government resources (such as customs or tax information pages for relevant countries). When you tap one of these links, it opens in an in-app Safari view (Apple's SFSafariViewController). Quanzio does not pass any information to those external websites — the navigation is a standard user-initiated browser request, identical to typing a URL into Safari yourself. Caywood Creative is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those external sites.
4. Information We Do Not Collect
To be explicit, Quanzio does not:
- Create or require user accounts of any kind
- Collect your name, email address, or any contact information
- Use analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or advertising SDKs
- Track your usage across sessions, devices, or apps
- Access your photo library, contacts, microphone, or health data
- Serve advertisements or share data with advertisers
- Sync data to iCloud or any cloud service
- Receive or store any data you enter into the app
5. Children's Privacy
Quanzio is a general-audience travel utility app and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (US) or 14 (Canada). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Quanzio does not collect personal information from any users at all — regardless of age — there is no data we hold about any individual user.
Exchange rate requests made by the app transmit no user information of any kind, including from minor users.
Parents or guardians who believe their child has used Quanzio and have questions or concerns may contact us at [email protected]. Because we hold no personal information about any user, there is no data in our possession to access, correct, or delete — but we are happy to address any questions.
6. Your Rights
United States
Because Quanzio does not collect, sell, or share personal information, most U.S. data privacy regulations have limited application to this app. The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) apply to businesses that exceed certain thresholds (annual gross revenues over $25 million, data on 100,000 or more consumers, or more than 50% of revenue from selling personal data). Caywood Creative does not meet any of these thresholds. Nonetheless, if you have questions or concerns, you are welcome to contact us at the address below.
Canada
Quanzio is designed to comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws, including Quebec's Law 25.
As required by Quebec's Law 25, Caywood Creative has designated a Privacy Officer responsible for compliance with applicable privacy obligations. As a sole-developer operation, the Privacy Officer is the developer personally, reachable at [email protected].
Because we collect no personal information on our end, there is no personal data held by us that would be subject to access, correction, or deletion requests. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us.
Right to Lodge a Complaint
Regardless of where you are located, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a relevant supervisory authority if you believe your privacy rights have been violated:
- Canada: Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada — priv.gc.ca
- United States: Federal Trade Commission — ftc.gov
7. Data Security
All data you create in Quanzio is stored on your own device. The security of that data is governed by your device's own security features (such as Face ID, Touch ID, and device encryption). We cannot access, breach, or lose data we never receive.
8. Data Retention
Because all data is stored on your device, you control its retention entirely. You can delete individual purchases or trips within the app. Uninstalling Quanzio from your device will delete all app data.
9. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. For Canadian users, applicable federal and provincial privacy laws — including PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25 — also apply to the extent required by those statutes.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
